Uzhhorod takes the leading position in the ranking

Have you ever wondered: Which regional center has the cleanest air? After all, polluted air is a significant issue in large cities.

LUN monitors air quality daily in the regional centers of Ukraine. As of early April, Uzhhorod confidently claimed the top spot for Air Quality Index (AQI). The Air Quality Index, developed by the US Environmental Protection Agency, is used in many countries worldwide. The higher the AQI value, the greater the level of air pollution and its negative impact on health.

In Uzhhorod, the air pollution reached a level of 10, while in Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk it was 12, and in Kyiv, 29. The worst index was recorded in Zhytomyr - 39 AQI.

For over 93% of the monitoring period, the concentration of PM2.5 in Uzhhorod's air was satisfactory, labeled as "Air clean" or "Air acceptable". These levels allow for outdoor activities and indoor ventilation. Remarkably, the "Air very unhealthy" level hasn't been observed here in the past few months.

Clean and fresh air is vital for health, as it enters the lungs and then spreads to all organs. Regular oxygen intake is crucial for cellular metabolism and energy production in the body. Another reason to breathe clean air is that during inhalation and exhalation, the body gets rid of toxins. Every cell in the human body requires fresh air to survive.
